2016 Annual Cove Cleanup – April 16

 

  • April 16 from 10 AM to 1 PM (low tide)
  • Although we will provide tools and brooms, please wear suitable footwear and bring gloves
  •  We need help with channels, trash pick-up, landscaping, sweeping sidewalks, etc.
  • The rain date is April 30 from 9 to 11
  • Thank you very much for your participation

 

Check out the new Boat Ramp!

The community is very excited to have safe access to the shoreline and has seen an increase in the use of this facility since its installation.       

These pictures show the old boat ramp, the new boat ramp being built and the Opening Ceremony for the new ramp presided over by Mayor Allan Fung, EWPA President Barbara Rubine and other members of EWPA.

Stillhouse Cove – Celebrating 100 years on September 26 from 1 – 3 PM…

The International Coastal Clean-up is on Saturday, September 19 from 9 to 12 with Save the Bay and Johnson and Wales Centennial House. This event is open to the public.

News you can use – July 9, 2015 update

1. The boat ramp is to be installed this summer
2. Take a walk along the cove and see how beautiful the landscaping and new path at the monument look. There are a couple of pictures attached to whet your appetite…
3. Last but not least, a link to the presentation given at last years meeting by the historic presentation consultant, Kathy Cavaunagh, is below. Kathy has turned the presentation into an informative video with narrative that details the very interesting history of the cove.

News you can use – June 9, 2015 update…

The park received national register status announced by the State Historic Preservation Commission in December 2014 – Thank you very much to all involved for the endless hours and effort to make this happen.  Stay tuned to view a copy of the presentation given by the Historic Preservation consultant at the last annual meeting – it will be posted soon and contains some fascinating historic information on Stillhouse Cove…

 

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Stillhouse Cove being designated a park by the Metropolitan Park Commission way back in 1915, stay tuned for more info…

 

Soon you can expect to see:

1. Improvements to the path at the monument

2. The new boatramp

3. Additional plantings to control erosion
